How We Can Work Together:

I offer personalized 1:1 transformational mindset coaching programs to help you get the clarity you want, find the peace of mind you’ve been seeking, and support your wellbeing and healing. This process invites you to reveal and rediscover your whole self and create alignment with all the aspects of your life – work,  relationships and your health.

Sessions are held virtually via Zoom/phone or locally in Boulder, Colorado in-person.

What is the difference between coaching with Melissa and traditional therapy?

While both Melissa’s style of therapeutic coaching and traditional therapy aim to help people make positive changes in their lives, there are a few key differences. Traditional therapy typically focuses on exploring past traumatic events, while Melissa’s therapeutic coaching model takes a more goal-oriented approach that emphasizes practical problem-solving and REAL integration, habit change and functional action steps. In addition, while therapists often take a directive approach, coaches tend to be more collaborative and participatory in their sessions. Finally, therapeutic coaching focuses on creating tangible action plans that the client can work towards achieving, while traditional therapy typically does not prioritize goal-setting or specific outcomes.

What can I expect from my first session?

During the initial session, Melissa will ask questions about your background and current challenges. This helps her get a better understanding of who you are and what kind of support you need. She will also take time to explain how therapeutic coaching works, discuss any goals or expectations that you have, and answer any questions that you might have. She may also ask you to complete a supportive practice or habit changing skill during the session.

How much time does Melissa spend with her clients in sessions?

Therapeutic coaching sessions usually last an hour. Melissa offers extended sessions or longer packages of multiple sessions as well. It is important to note that the first session is often 75-90 minutes long in order to create an initial plan and goals. Melissa also like to create an open line of communication to provide additional support for clients if a challenge or question arises in between sessions. 

How does Melissa’s experience as a therapeutic coach, neurotrauma speech-language cognitive therapist and passionate mind-body medicine advocate with a focus on mindfulness, stress resilience and holistic healing benefit her clients?

Melissa’s education and experience working with clients at pivotal moments in their lives, allows her to hold space and be present for real human emotion and challenge including stress, trauma and pain with acceptance, knowledge and compassion. She has almost three decades of experience working with clients of all ages, although currently works with adults and teenagers at this time. 

What topics can I discuss during a session?

Therapeutic coaches like Melissa are typically open to discussing a wide range of topics, from mental health struggles and relationship issues to work-related stressors and life changes. It is important to find a coach who you feel comfortable talking to and who is well-versed in the areas that are most relevant to your needs.

What is the investment for sessions? Is therapeutic coaching covered by insurance?

During your complimentary connection call Melissa shares the cost of individual sessions and also customized packages that provide a discount which allows for continuity of care and support. She also offers a Women’s Group and workshops throughout the year.  While many insurance companies may cover traditional therapy services, therapeutic coaching may not be covered. It is best to check with your insurance provider for individual coverage details. In addition, Melissa offers packages and payment plans to make services more affordable.
